This blog is a place where my classes can express ideas in an open manner. I hope that this will broaden the amount of meaningful learning taking place and that everyone will have a chance to speak up. Your voice is a powerful tool. Use it for good things.

* This is a hybrid online/classroom activity. Enjoy!

As we move into the reading of The Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane I would like you all to be aware of what was going on during that time period. You will be assigned a topic relating to the American Civil War. You will find and analyze the best websites for your topic according to the following criteria:

Authority: Who is responsible for the contents of the page? What are the author’s qualifications? Is there contact information for the author or producer?

Accuracy: Are the sources of factual information clearly listed? Is the information free of grammatical, spelling and typographical errors?

Objectivity: Is the information provided as a public service? Is it free of advertising? Does the information show bias?

Currency: When was the site last updated? Is the information current? How up to date are the links?

Print sample information from the site (at least 2 pages)

Put together your page(s) for the class “site book” making sure you have the following information:

A. Complete and accurate Web address
B. Sample page(s)
C. Analysis of site (typed, double spaced, 12 pt. Times, grammatically correct)

You will present you site during the next class.

In addition- I would like you to post your chosen site to this blog and your analysis using the above criteria.

Good luck!
